My name is Paul McMillan and I have been creating artistic pieces most of my life.
Living in Big Bear Lake California since 1972, I have been inspired by contact with other cultures of the world, creative people I have known and worked for and the beauty I have found around me.
My creations are a hybrid of many styles including Italian Baroque, Modern , Deco, Craftsman, Oriental and American Primitive. I design and build pieces to order, using my experience and imagination.
When a client brings an idea to me, we discuss appropriate size, wood, styles and finishes along with other aesthetic and practical features. I mill my own wood and can choose a variety of interesting aspects and features for the project. The joinery is traditional mortise, tenon, dovetail, dowling and wedging using few or no metal fasteners if possible and only when necessary.
I have pieces on display in Madrid NM, Jackson Hole Wy, Glenwood Springs CO,
Heber City UT, Palm Springs CA, Running Springs CA and Big Bear Lake CA.
